CWT Commodities is active in China since 1992. It operates under the
name CWT Commodities Shanghai Warehousing Mgt Co. Ltd.
This company is a joint venture with Sinotrans Shanghai Storage
and Transportation Co.
The joint venture has full access to Sinotrans facilities
and services throughout the country. This provides CWT with an infrastructure to operate anywhere in China,
including all the major ports of entry and over land border
crossings. The joint venture is also able to offer warehousing
services on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SFE).
CWT Commodities is a major force in stock management in China.
It assists foreign companies in storing materials, such as
metals and soft commodities, in coastal and inland bonded
and non-bonded warehouses. CWT holds stocks
in China of over 1Million Mt.
CWT Commodities provides freight forwarding and import/export
facilities. In addition, the company is able to act as cargo
agent on behalf of the customer and is able to facilitate
customs procedures directly for the client instead of relying
on sub contractors.
CWT collaborates closely with Chinese buyers, end-users
and their local banks in order to overcome financial difficulties
they face, in particular with regard to issuing Letters of
Credit to foreign suppliers. CWT can provide foreign
suppliers with the means to sell confidently on consignment
in China ex-warehouse. This can greatly increase a foreign
supplier's potential customer base and allow higher margins
to be achieved.
